Future plans

Let’s face it, things around here haven’t been that active. You could say things have come to a standstill.
Surely that was never the intention, but some things did not go according to plan. But as they say, you learn from your mistakes.
The idea behind this post is to give you, a potential customer or perhaps an interested visitor, insight in what the big idea is. Where this brand is heading, and how I plan to do so. Read more »

Old games are still fun

I suppose not everyone will agree with this title, but I know that there are a lot of people out there who couldn’t agree more.
Games aren’t all about the insane graphics you see these days. Of course, they do make the game more interesting to play, but it isn’t, at least for me, a deciding factor whether or not the game is fun.

Let’s take a look at some old, and even some new games that don’t look all that great, but are still tons of fun to play.

Tekken 3 (PS1)
Not a lot to say about this, in my opinion Tekken is one of the best fighting games ever made. I still play this game regularly with friends. It handles great, good variation in characters, although the single player mode is kind of weak, the final boss really isn’t much of a challenge.  It’s also fun for first time players, because you can just bash away at those buttons and hit combo’s at random.

To give you all some more insight in what the driving force behind this brand is, I present you various awesome pixel, 8bit and other awesome retro videos found on the web. You probably know a few of these, but I wanted to show em anyways. Feel free to share more of this goodness!

To start off, here’s and oldie, Junior Senior – Move your feet:

And you’ve probably already seen this one, as it’s been all over the net, but I couldn’t miss this one. Pixels by Patrick Jean:

And then we have a little video made by Francis Coulombe, as a school project:

These guys had plenty of fun with their lego’s, Rymdreglage – 8-bit trip:

Not really 8-bit or pixel art, but close enough. Nice stop motion of lots and lots of blocks, Grindin’ by Nobody Beats The Drum:

That’s it for now!

We have liftoff!

And finally it is upon us, the launch of the first batch of tees of Here Be Robots. I couldn’t be more excited to see this whole thing become reality. It’s been great working on it, and I hope it will stay that way for, well, pretty much ever.

The shop is open! The shirts are a measly 16 Euros, which is cheap by European standards, and should be affordable for you guys over there over them seas as well!
Head on over to the shop and start buying!

That’s a happy robot for you right there!

Oh, and keep your eyes peeled for a little contest coming soon. I would have liked to run it at launch, but as always, something went wrong, and it’s not quite there yet. So yeah stick around for the fun, and a chance to win some free shirts!

Here’s the first three shirts, if you’re too lazy to click on shop:

The shirts are in!

And here we go, the t-shirts have arrived!
The shipping went faster than I expected, took a mere week to get from the USA all the way to The Netherlands, through our annoying Customs. Had to pay a nice amount of import tax, but that was expected.

Well, onto the shirts. These are just quick photo’s the actual photo’s from the photoshoot will be here soon. This is just another peek at what’s going on. Don’t mind the light green on the second shirt, it looks a lot better in person, the picture doesn’t really do it justice.

Everything is coming together quite nicely. I did not want to start hyping before I had any actual stuff to talk about. All the items I need are starting to come together now. The stickers are here, the business cards are here, the mailers are here. The shirts arrive tomorrow. Well they actually arrived today, but I did not realise the import tax had to be paid right there and then, in cash. So the shirts will be at my door again tomorrow, telling me to pay the person who brought em. I’m eager to finally see them.

The business cards and stickers:

Sneakpeek

This is a little sneak preview of the three shirts I will be launching with. Some of these shirts may already have been posted at some specific places on the interwebs, but most of you probably haven’t seen the full designs yet.

These will be released the 30th of April. They will be printed by the ever so awesome Storenvy , plus they will be printed on American Apparel, so that’s a double quality guarantee for you.

There will be a contest held pretty soon, so keep an eye open for a chance to get some free shirts before they’re even released!
